3. How information is collected

We receive information directly from you when you enter a form, create a listing, upload files, message another user or contact us. Information is also generated as you use platform features. Other participants or service providers may provide information relating to a transaction, complaint or safety issue. Avoid uploading unnecessary confidential information; uploaded pictures can contain embedded location data.

4. Why we use information

We use information as appropriate to operate accounts and the website; display listings; facilitate communications, orders, bookings and customer service; review provider applications and listings; verify information; detect misuse and secure the platform; investigate complaints; comply with law; and maintain business records. Processing may be based on an applicable legal obligation, a contract or requested service, consent, or another basis permitted by law, depending on the activity. Where consent is required, it must be informed and freely given.

5. Sensitive information and verification

Some information, including certain health or criminal-record information, is sensitive under Rwandan law. It should be requested and processed only where lawful and necessary, with appropriate protection. For regulated activities a provider may be asked for documentation relevant to identity, professional eligibility, safety, insurance or property. A platform approval is not a guarantee of safety or official authorisation. Please provide only the information requested for the relevant purpose.

6. Public profiles, listings and reviews

Information that you choose or are required to make public in a listing or profile can be seen by visitors. Approved reviews of providers and customers may be public. Consider carefully before including personal details in public content or uploading images. To report or appeal a review, contact support@ikazemarket.rw.

7. Sharing information

Information needed for a transaction may be shared with the relevant buyer, seller, service provider, host, driver, courier or event organiser. Employers may receive applications submitted to their vacancies. Staff and technical providers involved in hosting, email, security and platform operations may access information as needed for their roles. Information may be disclosed to authorities where required or permitted by law.

Our assessment of all service providers, recipients, storage locations and cross-border transfers is ongoing. We will update this notice with more specific details after verification. Where information is stored or transferred outside Rwanda, applicable legal requirements and safeguards must be met.

8. Retention

Information should be kept for the purposes for which it was collected, subject to applicable legal, contractual, security, dispute-resolution and other lawful retention requirements. Different categories, such as account records, bookings, job applications, messages and backups, may require different periods. We are completing a category-by-category retention schedule and will update this notice when it is established. Contact us for information about a particular record.

9. Security

Protect your password and verification codes, and do not send payment credentials in messages. We use website security and administrative controls, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure. If you suspect unauthorised account access or a privacy incident, contact security@ikazemarket.rw promptly.

10. Your rights and requests

Subject to applicable law and exceptions, you may request information about processing, access to your personal data, correction, restriction or erasure, or object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier consent-based processing. We may ask for information to verify your identity before responding.
